Hanna Street's Experience In Her First Professional Show, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

Writer: Hanna StreetHanna Street

It was towards the end of my senior year of college when I got the email that they wanted me to play Schwarzy in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at The Firehouse Theatre. Not only was I ecstatic because this was my first professional show right out of college, but Spelling Bee was also a dream show for me which made the start of my professional performing career even more special. The director, Maddie Roth was so wonderful to everyone in the cast and made everybody feel so safe and secure during the process. The close bond that I felt with my fellow cast mates was indescribable. Everyone was so kind, supportive, and unbelievably talented and we still talk to this day. This show helped me to grow so much not only as an actor, but as a person and I am so incredibly grateful that I got to work in one of my favorite shows with such an amazingly talented group of people.
